Prerequisites
Before publishing an edited file, ensure that:
The file was opened using Edit File Locally from Asite.
You have saved all changes to the file.
The edited file is stored in your configured aDrive Desktop working folder.
You have permission to publish file revisions in the selected project folder.
NOTE: If the edited file is stored outside your configured aDrive Desktop working folder, copy it to the working folder and refresh aDrive Desktop before publishing. |
How Do I Publish an Edited File?
After editing a file locally, you can publish it as a new revision in the corresponding Asite project folder.
Choose a Publish Option
Before publishing, decide how you want to complete the upload.
Option | Use this option when... |
Upload & Finish | You have finished editing and want to publish the revision and remove the existing checkout. |
Upload & Continue | You want to publish the revision but continue editing the file afterwards. The file remains checked out. |
Open aDrive Desktop.
Locate the edited file.
(Optional) Click the Show Revisions icon to review previously saved local revisions.
If required, click the View (eye) icon to preview a revision before publishing.
If you need to make additional changes, click the Edit icon, update the file in its native application, and save your changes.
Click Upload & Finish or Upload & Continue, depending on how you want to publish the revision.
Complete the upload if prompted.
NOTE: If the destination folder uses Simple Upload, the revision is published immediately. If the folder requires metadata, the Upload window is displayed before the revision is published. |
What Happens If a Newer Revision Exists?
If another user has already published a newer revision of the file, aDrive Desktop displays a notification before uploading your revision.
Review the available options.
Select the appropriate option to continue publishing.
NOTE: Files published through aDrive Desktop cannot be distributed during upload. You can distribute them later from the Asite web application. |
How Do I View Recently Published Files?
The Recent Uploads tab displays files recently published through aDrive Desktop.
From this tab, you can:
Click Open in Webapp to open the published file in Asite.
Click Open & Edit to edit the file again using its default desktop application.
How Do I Automatically Delete Local Files After Upload?
You can configure aDrive Desktop to automatically remove local copies of edited files after they are successfully uploaded to the Asite Cloud.
This setting is disabled by default.
NOTE: This setting does not apply to one-way or two-way synchronised folders. |
Enable Automatic Deletion
Open aDrive Desktop.
Click the Profile icon.
Select Preferences.
Locate Delete Local Files on Upload to Asite Cloud.
Select Yes.
Click Save.
After you enable this setting, successfully uploaded edited files are automatically removed from your local aDrive Desktop working folder.
TIP: Enable this setting to reduce local storage usage and prevent unnecessary duplicate files. |
Result
After the file is published:
A new revision is created in the relevant Asite project folder.
The file appears in the Recent Uploads tab.
If you selected Upload & Finish, the checkout is removed.
If you selected Upload & Continue, the file remains checked out for further editing.
Troubleshooting
If you cannot publish an edited file, check that:
The file has been saved.
The file is located in the configured aDrive Desktop working folder.
You have permission to publish revisions.
Your internet connection is active.
Another user has not published a newer revision that requires your attention.
